Prepare the berries by washing the strawberries and blueberries thoroughly if using fresh fruit. If using frozen berries, add them straight to the blender without thawing.
Pour almond milk into the blender first. Add the strawberries, blueberries, almonds, and chia seeds afterward. Starting with the liquid helps the ingredients blend more easily.
Secure the blender lid and blend on medium speed for a few seconds. Then increase to high and blend for about 30 to 40 seconds, until the smoothie looks completely smooth and creamy.
Check the consistency and taste. If you want a thinner smoothie, add a little more almond milk and blend again. If you prefer it sweeter, add 1 soft date or a little maple syrup.
If you used fresh berries and want the smoothie colder, add a few ice cubes and blend for another 10 to 15 seconds. You can skip the ice when using frozen berries.
Frozen berries naturally make the smoothie thick and chilled, so extra ice is usually not necessary.
Pour the berry almond smoothie into a glass and serve immediately. For a simple finish, top it with a few fresh berries, sliced almonds, or a sprinkle of chia seeds.
